ESSO-INCOIS, a knowledge and information technology enterprise for the oceanic realm is pursuing focused programmes in the areas of Ocean Observations, Ocean Modeling and Ocean Information & Advisory services including Tsunami Early Warning. ESSO-INCOIS is currently offering the following temporary positions to bright, dynamic and motivated persons to contribute to its missions and projects on CONTRACT MODE. The tenure would be initially for a period of two years and extendable based on the needs of project and performance of the candidate. Project Scientist ‘C’ 01
1. Essential Qualification: Masters Degree in Oceanography / Marine Sciences or its equivalent from a recognized university/institute with at least first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree.
2. Experience: At least three (03) years of experience in the field of operational running of models (numerical / hydrodynamic models), validation of model outputs, Ocean/Atmospheric data analysis and interpretation.
3. Desirable: Doctorate in Oceanography / Marine Sciences. Knowledge in FORTRAN , FERRET, GMT, shell scripting in LINUX, etc.
4. Responsibilities :
To carry out the operational activities related to Ocean State Forecast (OSF) Services of ESSOINCOIS
To carry out R & D activities pertaining to the improvements of the OSF services
To carry out outreach activities for the services and creation of awareness on the OSF products to the user community
Extend the scientific / technical assistance to the Scientist In-Charges / Group Heads / Director, ESSO-INCOIS
To carry out the operational activities related to Ocean State Forecast (OSF) Services of ESSOINCOIS
To carry out R & D activities pertaining to the improvements of the OSF services

P02 Project Scientist ‘B’ 01
1. Essential Qualification: Masters Degree in Physics / Marine Sciences / Oceanography or its equivalent from a recognized university/institute with at least first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree
2. Desirable: Working knowledge in GIS and Remote Sensing, satellite data processing (SeaDAS, etc), ocean colour applications, satellite oceanography, operation of Hyper-spectral radiometers, Water Quality Analysis, etc.
3. Responsibilities : To work in the Satellite Coastal & Oceanographic Research (SATCORE) Project of ESSOINCOIS and to carry out R & D related activities for developing and operationalisation of various ocean colour applications, satellite data processing, image analysis, etc.

P03 Project Scientist ‘B’ 01
1. Essential Qualification: Masters Degree in Geo-Informatics / Remote Sensing & GIS / Spatial Information Technology / Geomatics / Geo-spatial sciences and technologies or its equivalent from a recognized university/institute with at least first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree
2. Desirable: Working knowledge in GIS and Remote Sensing, satellite data processing, image processing software & programming languages (like ERDAS, Arc GIS, programming skills in Java, .NET, Arc Objects, etc.), etc.
3. Responsibilities :
To work in the National Tsunami Early Warning Centre at ESSO-INCOIS and to carry out R & D related activities for development of GIS Applications and also

1. Essential Qualification: Masters Degree in Atmospheric Sciences / Oceanography / Physics or its equivalent from a recognized university/institute with at least first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree.
2. Desirable: Working knowledge in Oceanographic data processing, Quality Control, Data Analysis, familiarity with softwares like FERRET, GMT, ODV, GRADS, Surfer, Grapher, etc.
3. Responsibilities : Handling surface and subsurface Oceanographic data, Quality Control, Data analysis.

P05 Project Scientist ‘B’ 01
1. Essential Qualification: Masters Degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or MCA or M.S. in Information Technology or its equivalent from a recognized university/institute with at least first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree.
2. Desirable: Working knowledge in GIS, OpenMap tools, Database (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL etc). Programming in JAVA, Matlab, C, C++, Shell scripting, etc.
3. Responsibilities : Remote Sensing Data handling, generation and maintenance of remote sensing data bases, s/w development.

P06 Project Assistant 02
1. Essential Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Fisheries / Physics as one of the subjects or its equivalent from a recognized university/institute with at least first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree and basic knowledge in computers.
2. Desirable: PG Diploma in Geo-informatics / Remote Sensing & GIS / Spatial Information Technology or one year experience in Image processing software’s (like ERDAS, ENVI, etc.), GIS Packages or working knowledge in tuna fisheries, etc.
3. Responsibilities : To Work for the operational activities of Potential Fishing Zone (PFZ) and Tuna Fishery Advisory services of ESSO-INCOIS and to assist in carrying out R & D related activities for developing and operationalisation of various fishery advisories, satellite data processing, image analysis, etc.
4. Emoluments: Consolidated monthly emoluments Rs. 28,350/-.

P07 Project Assistant 02
1. Essential Qualification: B.Sc. with Geology / Physics / Mathematics / Statistics as one of the subjects or Diploma in Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized university/institute with at least first class (60% of marks) in the qualifying degree and basic knowledge in computers.
2. Desirable: Working Experience in the field of Remote Sensing & GIS with proficiency in Image processing software’s, GIS packages and basic computer programming skills, shell scripting in Linux, etc.
3. Responsibilities :
To assist in carrying out geo-spatial applications, coastal vulnerability, hazard assessment, programming, etc.
