| About the Job As part of the ‘Lead to Cash’ team, you will develop, maintain, test, and implement database tools that bring new functionality and increased reliability to Akamai's billing tools. You must be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You must be able to work collaboratively within the team and with other teams at Akamai as well as be comfortable working independently. In this role you will be exposed to all areas of the software development life cycle. This role includes production support which may require coordinating efforts across user groups or trouble-shooting the effects of data-entry as it pertains to the code. This role includes testing support which may require assisting Business Analysts with test cases and methodologies along with environment setups and maintenance in preparation for testing. The ideal candidate should be able to implement solutions based on requirements provided by a Business Analyst or able to work with the end users to gather requirements when necessary. Must be able to apply skills in software design, programming, and development methodologies to implement and enhance business applications. The development environment is ever evolving, we require individuals who are adept at many development languages and tools and who are comfortable learning new things. Successful individuals will be happiest in a changing environment where flexibility, adaptability and a strong sense of team are required. About the Team The ‘Lead to Cash’ team designs and develops the technology platform that underpins all financial processes at Akamai. Our focus is to increase the efficiency and transparency of these areas of the business while maintaining enterprise class reliability. Our ever-evolving technology stack consists of Oracle Business Intelligence, Siebel CRM and custom software. The team consists of high-caliber software engineers, business systems analysts and project managers. | ||||||||||||
| Responsibilities: | ||||||||||||
| * Work effectively in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to design, implementation, testing, and release. * Translate business functional requirements into technical solutions. * Follow design specifications and standards. * Assist with implementing development work plans. * Design, develop, & deploy new application components. * Communicate development status and escalate issues to management. * Assist with the creation of deployment materials (may include training documents, release notes, others). * Execute processes to ensure application integrity and availability. * Implementing highly transactional systems efficiently and effectively. * Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and outages. * Execute on other directives as needed. | ||||||||||||
| Qualifications: | ||||||||||||
| Basic Qualifications * Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology. * Overall Experience: 2 to 5 years. * Strong communication skills are required to translate business requirements into technical design, through implementation and deployment. * Personal attributes of curiosity, positive attitude, diligence, and a strong sense of personal responsibility. Desired Qualifications * Oracle Database 10 G or higher. * Oracle: PL/SQL, SQL Plus, SQL Loader, and DataPump. * Experience with batch processing and workflows. * Unix and Unix shell scripting, Perl scripting, SSH, SCP. * Source code control software. * Experience with tuning SQL code. * Experience with QA processes and Best Practices. * Excellent communication skills, both written & verbal. * Java Programming a Plus. | ||||||||||||
