Project Application Engineer-1203330 Description1 BASIC JOB PURPOSEThe Incumbent will be a member of the IRSI Project Engineering team based at Bangalore. Responsible for all engineering of the signalling content of the project and coordinating the engineering of all other disciplines including attending external meetings. Assists the Senior Project Engineer & Associate Project Manager in creating bill of materials and providing services, and coordinating the overall program and financial aspects of the contract. 2 PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES To deliver Project Engineering solutions in accordance with the contracts received for mainline and mass transit projects as per Business / Project plan. Accountabilities include all the technical aspects of a project including specification, design, implementation, testing, installation and commissioning, working under the direction of the Senior Project Engineer / Associate Project Manager. • Contract results and customer approval. Ensuring that quality system is being adhered to by all members of the team. • Customer approval. To ensure standards of engineering meet specification requirements to ensure all sub-systems interface correctly. • Customer approval. To ensure standards of engineering are within budget limits. • Status reports. To estimate and report costs to complete in conjunction with the Senior Project Engineer/ Associate Project Manager. • Allows status reports to reflect the true conditions of contract. To assist with tendering and the administration of contract variations. • Contract results. Ensure all sub-systems fit together eg. Telemetry, Mechanical Equipment, Electrical Services, Signalling by coordinating standards and program. • Minimum problems encountered during project life span. Establish working relationships with all involved. • Contract harmony. Ensure quality assurance procedures are adhered to for all documentation, purchasing, manufacturing, installation and commissioning. • Increased system reliability and reduced warranty and maintenance costs. Program co-ordination and control in conjunction with the Senior Project Engineer/ Associate Project Manager. Co-ordination of all resources: - Customer - Site staff - Sub-contractor - Drawing office (via Signalling Design Manager) - Suppliers in-house - Suppliers external - by issuing of program at regular intervals • Ensure project complete on time Establish working relationships with suppliers to ensure prompt delivery, quality control, fair pricing • Ensure contract proceeds within the constraints of time and money The ever changing business environment requires IRSI to remain competitive. The value of the Main line & Mass Transit Project Engineering workload in this figure will be set as Personal goal in accordance with the Invensys Performance Management System (IPMS). 4. ROLE The role is essentially coordinating the resources of IRSI, both design office and site, sub-contractor and suppliers, to ensure design, supply, manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of the contract works is completed within budget and time constraints. There is also a close relationship with IRSI accounting staff through the Project manager to ensure the claims of sub-contractors and suppliers are approved within the correct period and in the preparation of claims on the customer and status reports to management. The role also ensures that projects are engineered to specification and budget using the best available technology. The work covers the disciplines of Hardware, Software, Signalling and Communications Qualifications PERSON SPECIFICATIONQualifications/Experience: Bachelors Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Communications Engineering / IT Good Proficiency in MS Office & Ms Project tools Experience in systems Engineering, Electronics Communications will be an added advantage. In particular you will have applied your systems engineering practices in other mission critical projects in the transport domain; with exposure to various standards such as IEEE, ISO, IEC and Cenelec. Working in a Railway Signalling Company will be advantageous. Personal Qualities: Responsible Team Player Good Negotiating Skills Self Motivated.
