Groupon has opening for experienced back-end web developers to help design and build high-scale, web e-commerce applications that run non-stop around the globe.  As part of our Chennai technology team, you'll use a variety of technologies and development practices to build pioneering social local web commerce applications used by hundreds of millions of people.

You are excited to solve challenging problems every day such as:
- Designing high-performance RESTful web services
- Personalizing content and promotions based on user interests
- Unraveling the myriad of payment technologies available globally

Successful candidates will have:
- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Track record of building cool, at-scale web applications
- Expert in at least one compiled language (C, Java) and one dynamic scripting language (e.g. Ruby, Python, Perl)
- Strong familiarity with SQL database programming and performance
- Excellent proficiency with *NIX development environments
- Excellent understanding of how internet and Web technologies work
